MountainStar Family Relief Nursery and Preschool

With locations throughout Central Oregon we offer full-time preschool care to children ages 3 and 4, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

With more than 20 years of experience, MountainStar Family Relief Nursery’s mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect through community support and therapeutic services that help vulnerable children and families succeed.

As a Preschool Promise Provider, MountainStar is proud to offer a variety of learning experiences with a special focus on social and emotional development. Our curriculum is aligned with Oregon’s Early Learning and Kindergarten Guidelines and is tailored to each individual child’s needs. We assess and track each child’s development in order to customize their learning experience. And we provide 3 parent-teacher conferences each year to discuss your child’s development and progress, and to help provide support for the whole family.

At MountainStar, we provide caring support and therapeutic classrooms that help both children and families succeed. Our classroom offers students a wide array of activities such as reading, gross motor skills, arts and crafts and play-based learning. 

We work with each family to provide access to resources such as transportation, meals, and connections with other community services. Families enrolled in MountainStar programs have access to our free “Clothing Closet,” supplemental food boxes, and monthly parenting education gatherings. 

MountainStar works with Healthy Beginnings and local dentists to provide free health and dental screenings for all enrolled children. Children ages 0-3 are potentially eligible to enroll in our Relief Nursery services where we provide monthly home visiting and support for each family’s basic needs.

MountainStar Family Relief Nursery staff members actively participate in required health, safety, and educational trainings and are offered regular professional development opportunities to enhance their skills. Staff training often focuses on topics such as social and emotional learning or trauma informed care.
